Writing to Disk... changes new to beta build:
- significantly revised multiple poem "routes," reworking verses I didn't like from the original
- added new passages in between some branches to fill in certain routes
- added new ending
- changed font of passages & links to better match theme + made links magenta + centered text on page
Design choice changes:
- no longer attempting to maintain a certain meter or length of each stanza throughout game: embracing free verse
- removed or altered most of the clickable poem lines that did not rhyme or broke rhythmic flow with the verse above to make reading it smoother & more fun
- let myself run wild with imagery and style & created a looser interpretation of my original core narrative idea
Stuff left to do for exhibition build:
- completely rework "that feeling was real" route - no longer like how linear and coherent the story feels there especially now that it doesn't quite tonally & stylistically match the rest of the game
- play w text styling & transition animations in editor bar
- fix passages that link back to parts of poem that don't make sense after revisions
- add another stanza to each lost dream passage to make those endings feel as filled out as the sun endings
- figure out how to disable twine back button in play mode to make the game feel more like a poem you read from start to finish/make players commit to one route at a time
- make graphics for itch page
- stretch goals: photoshop some backgrounds for each page, make simple music track for whole game
